Particularly noteworthy is the ambitious project in Alfeld (Lower Saxony), which is considered the largest approved storage project in Europe with a performance of 137.5 megawatts and a storage capacity of 275 megawatt hours.
A new interactive platform delivers real-time clean energy storage insights as Europe shifts toward sustainable energy sources. Energy storage helps to balance supply and demand. The European Energy Storage Inventory is the first of its kind at European level to show all forms of clean energy storage solutions.
The goal is to list all planned and operational energy storage projects in Europe by location and technology. The dashboard can be filtered by country, project status and technology. It lists 32 countries and is led by Germany, with 472 projects. It is followed by the United Kingdom (455 projects), Spain (147 projects) and Italy (112 projects).
The European market for home storage is developing even more dynamic. Solarpower Europe expects an increase in total storage capacity by 300% to 32.2 GWh by the end of 2026, which corresponds to the supply of 3.9 million European households.
