The Antwerp battery project has a power rating of 25 MW and capacity of 75 MWh. The installation will be operational by the end of 2024. The project uses 40 Intensium Max High Energy lithium-ion containers supplied by Saft. TotalEnergies has a portfolio of 450,000 BtC and 100,000 BtB electricity sites in Belgium.

The installation boasts a power rating of 25 MW and a capacity of 75 MWh, sufficient to meet the daily consumption of nearly 10,000 households.
The new project will be almost identical as the one launched in March last year and should go live by end-2024. The new BESS will be installed on the site of TotalEnergies’ depot in Feluy, Hainaut province, and will consist of 40 Intensium Max High Energy lithium-ion containers.
Belgium’s regulatory setup helps make such projects viable. BESS projects in the country benefit from favorable permitting and long-term revenue mechanisms. ENGIE’s long-term contract with Elia provides a stable revenue base, easing finance and operation risks.
