The 25 MW/100 MWh EVx™ Gravity Energy Storage System (GESS) is a 4-hour duration project being built outside of Shanghai in Rudong, Jiangsu Province, China. The EVx™ is under construction directly adjacent to a wind farm and national grid.
The EVx ™ system is projected to achieve an impressive round-trip efficiency exceeding 80%. This places the new gravity system at the forefront of energy storage efficiency compared to alternative long duration energy storage methods such as mechanical, thermodynamic, compressed air, and flow battery systems.
