Distributed solar generation (DSG) has been growing over the previous years because of its numerous advantages of being sustainable, flexible, reliable, and increasingly affordable. DSG is a broad and multidisciplinary research field because it relates to various fields in engineering, social sciences, economics, public policy, and others.
In recent years, the advantages of distributed solar PV (DSPV) systems over large-scale PV plants (LSPV) has attracted attention, including the unconstrained location and potential for nearby power utilization, which lower transmission cost and power losses .
In the report, the communication and control system architecture models to enable distributed solar PV to be integrated into the future smart grid environment were reviewed. The existing communication technologies, protocols and current practice for solar PV integration are also introduced in the report.
