Among the innovative solutions paving the way forward, solar energy containers stand out as a beacon of off-grid power excellence. In this comprehensive guide, we delve into the workings, applications, and benefits of these revolutionary systems.
The number of homes and businesses in Australia with rooftop solar systems, batteries and electric vehicles is now significant. This has resulted in a strain on Australia’s electricity grid that was not designed to send electricity two ways. This means the way we manage exporting excess solar energy back to the grid needs to change.
In Ausgrid’s case, it intends applying a 1.2 c/kWh charge when solar electricity is exported between the hours of 10am and 3pm, and rewarding solar owners with a payment or credit of 2.3 cents/kWh for exports during the peak demand period (4pm to 9pm).
