Dielectric film capacitors for high-temperature energy storage applications have shown great potential in modern electronic and electrical systems, such as aircraft, automotive, oil exploration industry, and so on, in which polymers are the preferred materials for dielectric capacitors.
This article reviews the current status of CIGS thin-film solar cells, the introduction of the high-temperature resistant PI film, and focuses on the recent progress on the high temperature resistance and low coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE) modification of PI film.
A flexible CIGS thin-film solar cell based on PI has many advantages that rigid glass substrate–based CIGS solar cells do not have, such as lightweight, good folding, and low energy consumption (roll-to-roll) process. The record efficiency of flexible CISG solar cells is 20.8%, indicating the broad prospects of flexible PV solar energy.
PI exhibits excellent thermal stability over the other three plastic foils. The transition temperature of the PI can reach to 450 °C. However, the transition temperature of the other three plastic foils is below 200 °C. In addition, PI shows good mechanical properties such as good elasticity and high flexibility.
